Council arrangements on Anzac Day - 25 April 2024

Council closures

The Council offices, Bendigo Bank Agencies, Depots and Jerilderie Library will be closed on Anzac Day (25 April 2024). For any emergencies during that time please contact:

Garbage/recycling/FOGO collection

Waste collections will be as normal. Please place bins out for collection the night before.

Waste depots (landfills)

  • Darlington Point and Coleambally Waste Depots (Landfills) will be closed.
Double demerits will be in place from Wednesday 24 April to Sunday 28 April 2024, inclusive.

FOX BAITING IN JERILDERIE RACECOURSE TSR

Murray Local Land Services has asked us to share the news they will be laying 1080 fox baits on the Jerilderie Racecourse Travelling Stock Reserve from 18 March to 31 May 2024 as part of the autumn fox baiting program. This is undertaken to reduce fox numbers to ensure the survival of livestock, ground-nesting birds and wildlife.

Warning - Domestic animals may be affected, so people entering this reserve should exercise caution and muzzle all dogs. The LLS also advises people who live close to the reserve to keep their dogs restrained or muzzled at all times during the baiting period.

The Travelling Stock Reserve will be signposted.

NOTICE FROM MURRUMBIDGEE LOCAL HEALTH DISTRICT 

Thursday 20 July 2023 - Information for Jerilderie residents - Temporary reduction of services at Jerilderie MPS

There are significant challenges securing healthcare staff in rural and regional areas, not just for the Murrumbidgee region, but across Australia.

Jerilderie MPS is experiencing these challenges, where despite extensive recruitment efforts the service has several nursing vacancies it has been unable to fill.

To ensure ongoing safe patient care, Murrumbidgee Local Health District has made the difficult decision to temporarily reduce some services at Jerilderie MPS from Monday, 24 July 2023.

We acknowledge this is disappointing for the local community and apologise for the inconvenience this may cause.

Under these temporary arrangements, as recruitment efforts continue, patients requiring emergency care will be referred to Finley Hospital. Patients from Jerilderie requiring urgent emergency care should call 000 for an ambulance.

We are working closely with NSW Ambulance to maintain 24/7 access to emergency care and facilitate rapid transfers to the closest specialist care centre when required. We understand the importance of remaining as close to your community as possible while you are receiving care.

If an illness or injury is not life-threatening, we encourage you to visit your GP or call Healthdirect Australia on 1800 022 222. This is a 24-hour telephone health advice line staffed by registered nurses to provide fast, expert advice on any health issue and what to do next.

The temporary changes will support our dedicated staff and ensure the continuation of safe, high-quality healthcare services for all patients while nursing recruitment continues. MLHD recognises and is deeply thankful for the outstanding commitment and tireless efforts of our nurses and midwives.

While we continue to actively recruit to nursing vacancies, we’re also working hard to redeploy nursing staff from other areas and engage nursing agencies to cover any gaps in the rosters, with the ultimate goal of increasing these services back to their usual state.

We are also working with our public and private health partners in surrounding areas, and NSW Ambulance, to ensure the community continues to access the health services it needs.
