Darlington Point and Coleambally communities

WANTED: COMMUNITY TRANSPORT DRIVERS! Contact Valmar Support Services on 0269 691 020.

Locals have access to two types of community transport: 


1. Council's Community Transport Service 

This service is available to everyone in the community each Friday 

Bus pick up points:
9.00 am: Departs Coleambally from the Post Office, Kingfisher Avenue
9.30 am: Departs Darlington Point Council Chambers, Carrington Street

Bus drop off points:
Griffith Court House
Griffith Visitors Centre

Bus pick up points return:
1.50 pm: Side of Woolworths
2.00 pm Griffith Visitors Centre
2.10 pm: Bus stop side of Central Plaza

Cost as at 1 July 2023: 
Coleambally $10 return
Darlington Point $10 return

This service is funded through the NSW Government Transport for NSW Community Transport Program. Continuation of this service is dependent on funding.


2. Assistance with non emergency transport for specialist and medical appointments

Community Transport can be used for shopping medical appointments and social. One vehicle is available in Darlington Point and one in Coleambally. Please book early to ensure availability. 

Times the vehicle is available:
Monday to Friday, 8.00 am to 6.00 pm

2023 prices: 
From Coleambally to Griffith, Leeton, Narrandera return: Single: $30, Group: $20
From Darlington Point to Griffith, Leeton, Narrandera return: Single: $20, Group: $15
From Coleambally and Darlington Point to Wagga, Albury-Wodonga return: Single: $90, Group: $70

Jerilderie community 


Locals can utilise two types of community transport. 

1. Weekly bus service provided by Valmar Community Transport

The bus departs from the back of Jerilderie Bakery every Thursday.

The schedule is:

Shepparton first Thursday
Cobram second Thursday
Yarrawonga  third Thursday
Albury fourth Thursday
Wangaratta fifth Thursday

 

Cost is $10 per return trip.

 
This service is available to anyone in the community (conditions apply for children under 16).

2. Assistance with non emergency transport for specialist and medical appointments provided by Berrigan & District Home & Community Services

Community Transport can be used for shopping to your local supermarket, chemist, daycare, business appointments, or visiting family and friends in nearby towns. It can be for medical appointments in Shepparton, Albury, Wagga Wagga and Melbourne.

The service is usually available when required. Please call Berrigan & District Aged Care Association for availability and costs.

This service is to support to older people and their carers to live independently at home and be part of the community.

You may be eligible to receive assistance from the Home Support service if you are:

  • An older person aged 65 or over and having difficulties managing in your own home (or over 55 if you are an Aboriginal person).
  • A carer providing help to an older person aged 65 or over.

The Home Support Service has been made possible through funding provided by the Australian Government under the Commonwealth HSP and auspice by the Berrigan & District Aged Care Association.

All clients are asked to pay a contribution for each service. Local service costs are supplied on enquiry.
