Youth Week - Darlington Point Skate Park Mural Workshop

An incredible opportunity for budding young artists to make their mark on the Darlington Point Skate Park.

Forming an activity of #NSWYouthWeek and #OpenStreetsProgram, Murrumbidgee Council are offering a two day workshop to transform the grey drab walls of the skate park into a vibrant activation the broader community can appreciate.

Newcastle based company, Playstate, will lead the creation of a mural on the back walls of the park with the contribution from workshop participants. Playstate welcome young people of all skills levels to come along and learn about street art practices and the practical application of aerosol to boards to create artwork. The workshops shows young people how to draw letters, and complete an artwork in a safe and supportive environment followed by the installation of a mural on day 2.

Registrations are open to young people aged 12-24 years that can commit for a two day program over Wednesday 16 – Thursday 17 April 2025 in the school holidays. Registrations are LIMITED.

Day 1 – Aerosol workshop (2hours)

Wednesday 10.00am – Introduction and Aerosol workshop with participants this workshop runs for 2hours

Day 2 – Mural on Skate Park walls (the day)

Thursday 10.00am – painting the mural approximately 2 hours, Playstate to apply finishing touches to the mural after the participants have added their input

**The wider community is welcome to watch the mural take shape, chalk art is open to all between 10am – 11am
