Guidelines for using our pools

  • Supervision required: Children 14 years and under must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. The adult must remain within arm’s reach of their child, especially in deeper areas.
  • No diving in shallow areas: Diving is only allowed in designated deep water sections. Ensure you check the pool’s depth markings before diving.
  • Observe pool rules: Follow all posted pool rules and regulations. Lifeguards are there for your safety—listen to their instructions.
  • No running: Running around the pool deck can lead to slips and falls. Walk carefully and avoid rough play.
  • Shower before swimming: Showering before entering the pool helps keep the water clean and hygienic for everyone.
  • Proper swim attire: Only swimwear that is appropriate and approved by the pool is allowed. No jeans, non-swimwear fabrics, or street clothes are permitted.
  • Health precautions: Do not swim if you have an open wound, are ill, or have had diarrhoea in the last 2 weeks. This helps prevent the spread of infections. Don't swim if you have diarrhoea or have suffered from diarrhoea within the past two weeks. Don't swallow the pool water and try not to let water into your mouth. Wash your hands with soap and water after using the toilet.
  • Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout your time at the pool to stay hydrated, especially on hot days.
  • Use Sunscreen: Apply waterproof sunscreen to protect your skin from UV rays, even if you’re not swimming in the sun.
  • No Food or drinks in the pool: To avoid accidents and maintain cleanliness, keep all food and beverages away from the pool.
  • Emergency procedures: Familiarise yourself with the pool’s emergency procedures and the locations of first aid kits and emergency exits.
  • Floatation Devices: Use approved floatation devices and ensure they are suitable for the user’s age and swimming ability.
  • Report issues: Immediately report any unsafe conditions, equipment malfunctions, or concerns to the lifeguard or pool staff. 15. Personal belongings: Keep personal belongings secure and avoid leaving them unattended. The pool is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • Respect and courtesy: Be respectful to fellow swimmers and pool staff. Treat everyone with courtesy to make sure everyone enjoys a swim in the local pool.

By following these guidelines, everyone can enjoy a safe and pleasant swimming experience.

Parents with young children

  • Take your child on bathroom breaks often rather than waiting to hear they 'have to go' as it may be too late.
  • Change nappies in a bathroom and not at the poolside as germs can spread to surfaces or objects in and around the pool and spread illness.
  • Wash  your child thoroughly (especially on the bottom) with soap and water.
  • Wash your hands after changing your child's nappy.
