Information you need when making a complaint

Step 1.Your contact details

When making the complaint, you will be asked for your name, phone number and address.

This information will be kept in the strictest confidence, however, it is needed to investigate a complaint.

The investigating officer may also need to contact you to verify the details of the complaint.

Step 2.The location of the animal/s

If the animal/s are at a fixed location, please to provide the address details.  If the animals are located on or within a vehicle, please provide the registration details, and a description of the vehicle.

Step 3.Who is involved

  • the name and phone number of the person/s involved in the offence (if known) - otherwise, a clear description of all people involved 

Step 4.What the issue is

  • the type of animal/s
  • the number of animals involved
  • the problem
  • as much detail as possible about the animal's condition

Step 5.The time and date of the alleged offence

Step 6.Any other information you have

Any information which will help the inspector to investigate the complaint, for example if there are savage dogs, if the people involved are known to be violent, or the names and addresses of other witnesses to the cruelty.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Please be aware that providing false or misleading information is an offence under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
