Murrumbidgee’s newest citizen has been officially welcomed into the community, with Murrumbidgee Mayor Ruth McRae officiating at an Australian Citizenship Ceremony for Ms Aileen Lim on 16 January 2025 at Darlington Point. 

Ms Lim hails from the Philippines and this milestone marks a significant achievement in her journey to becoming an integral part of the Australian community.

In the ceremony, Cr McRae welcomed Ms Lim as an Australian citizen, extending a warm congratulations and celebrating this new chapter in her life.

Cr McRae described it as a great honour to officiate Ms Lim’s citizenship ceremony. 

“Becoming an Australian citizen is a momentous occasion, and it is an absolute pleasure to see her officially join our community. Australia is built on the diversity and strength of people like Ms Lim and we are thrilled to have her as officially part of Murrumbidgee.”

“I wish Ms Lim all the best in her future. Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter, and we are proud to have her as a fellow Australian,” Cr McRae added.

Ms Lim expressed her gratitude and said she was deeply honoured and excited to become an Australian citizen. This country has offered me so much and I look forward to contributing to the community that has welcomed me with open arms."

The ceremony was attended by family and friends, all of whom shared in the joy of this significant occasion.
