Murrumbidgee Council seeks community feedback on proposed speed limit

Murrumbidgee Council is reaching out to the community to gather feedback on proposed changes to speed limits on parts of Jerilderie Street (Newell Highway), Sturt Highway and Kidman Way.

These changes are aimed at enhancing safety for all road users.

As part of the survey, residents will be asked specific questions about any incidents they may have witnessed or experienced on these roads.

This evidence will help the council understand community sentiment and support for efforts to improve safety. Evidence of people’s experiences is essential as the roads are managed by Transport for NSW and the decision to proceed with changes rests with the department.

Murrumbidgee Mayor Cr Ruth McRae emphasised the importance of community participation in this initiative.

“We urge all residents to contribute to this survey. Your feedback is crucial for us to fully understand the sentiments in our community regarding road safety.

“By sharing your experiences, you provide us with the evidence we need to advocate for these important changes,” she said.

Cr McRae added, “Every voice matters. The more responses we receive, the stronger our case will be when we present our findings to Transport for NSW. Together, we can make our roads safer for everyone.”

The survey will take approximately five minutes to complete and is open until 5 pm on Friday 13 December 2024.
