The NSW Government is launching another round of Open Streets Program Funding.

The program aims to inject vibrancy into our streets and help create thriving local places that support businesses, creative sectors, and the community through events and activations.

NSW local councils can apply for funding to temporarily close streets to vehicles and host community events and activations that are free and inclusive for all. The program supports the NSW Government’s commitment to revitalising our streets and centres under the Vibrant Streets Package.

We encourage you to submit an expression of interest to receive funding through the Open Streets Program if your organisation is planning to hold a community event/s in 2025-2028. Your event must comply with the below requirements and those on the Open Streets funding guidelines:

  • temporary closure of a street or street/s to vehicles
  • is free and inclusive - however free ticketed events are acceptable for managing attendance
  • includes collaboration with local businesses or business associations, asset owners or major nearby employers to encourage participation

Please complete and lodge an expression of interest by 5 pm on Friday 28 February 2025.
