Wording for Acknowledgement of Country

We suggest the following wording for people hosting or involved with events in the Murrumbidgee Local Government Area:

I begin by acknowledging the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet and pay my respects to their elders past, present and emerging. I extend that respect to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples here today.

While the northern end of our council area (Darlington Point and Coleambally) is Wiradjuri nation, the southern end (Jerilderie) has not been officially recognised as having connection with specific mobs. Therefore, we recommend providing a general acknowledgement only.
