Mayor & councillors

The Council has nine members elected to do specific jobs as outlined in the Local Government Act and Rules. Their term is generally 4 years.

The people elect local government councillors to represent their interests and ensure the community’s voice is heard in decision-making. If you have any concerns, issues, or ideas about our council area, please contact your councillor or alternatively the General Manager for further assistance. Your input is valuable in shaping our community’s future.

Every two years, the Council chooses a Mayor and Deputy Mayor from its members. The Mayor runs council meetings and represents it when they are not meeting.

The council members are supported by a team of council staff who make sure the plans and changes they decide on are put into action.
