Community transport

Local seniors have access to two types of community transport. These services are offered by different agencies throughout our council area.

Coleambally and Darlington Point

These services are available:

1. Community Transport Service

Provided by Valmar Support Services.

This service is available to everyone in the community each Friday.

Bus pick up points

  • 9:00 am: Departs Coleambally from the Post Office, Kingfisher Avenue
  • 9:30 am: Departs Darlington Point Council Chambers, Carrington Street

Bus drop off points

  • Griffith Court House
  • Griffith Visitors Centre

Bus pick up points return journey

  • 1:50 pm: Side of Woolworths
  • 2:00 pm Griffith Visitors Centre
  • 2;10 pm: Bus stop side of Central Plaza

2. Assistance with non emergency transport to specialist and medical appointments

Provided by Valmar Support Services.

Community Transport can be used for shopping medical appointments and social. One vehicle is available in Darlington Point and one in Coleambally. Please book early to ensure availability. 

Times the vehicle is available:

Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm

This service is funded through the Australian Government under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme.

This service is funded through the NSW Government Transport for NSW Community Transport Program. Continuation of this service is dependent on funding.

 

Jerilderie

Locals can utilise two types of community transport. 

1. Weekly bus service (community transport)

Provided by Valmar Community Transport

The bus departs from the back of Jerilderie Bakery every Thursday.

The schedule is: 

  • Shepparton first Thursday
  • Cobram second Thursday
  • Yarrawonga third Thursday
  • Albury fourth Thursday
  • Wangaratta fifth Thursday

This service is available to anyone in the community (conditions apply for children under 16).

2. Non emergency transport to specialist and medical appointments

Provided by: Berrigan & District Home & Community Services

Community Transport can be used for shopping to your local supermarket, chemist, daycare, business appointments, or visiting family and friends in nearby towns. It can be for medical appointments in Shepparton, Albury, Wagga Wagga and Melbourne.

The service is usually available when required.

The Home Support Service has been made possible through funding provided by the Australian Government under the Commonwealth HSP and auspiced by the Berrigan & District Aged Care Association.
