There are a range of support services available for the Aboriginal community.

Across the Murrumbidgee Council area

Support is also available for the entire council area through Service NSW.

They can tell you about the range of programs, services and concessions that are available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

This includes:

  • Health and community services
  • Culture, education and family history search
  • Housing and accommodation
  • Support for businesses
  • Legal services
  • Financial support

They can put you in touch with key contacts for:

  • NSW Aboriginal Affairs
  • NSW Aboriginal Land Council
  • Office of the Registrar, Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 (NSW)

For Darlington Point and Coleambally residents

Residents of Darlington Point and Coleambally can access services through Waddi Housing and Advancement Corporation, located at 11 Carrington Street, Darlington Point.

Waddi provides culturally appropriate community, social and housing support services such as:

  • housing opportunities (Darlington Point only)
  • access to community services, including health, art, fitness and medical services
  • opportunities to engage in art and cultural activities

Justice Connect Hub

The Justice Connect Hub is held at Waddi Cultural Centre the first Wednesday of every second month.

This is a clinic where the First Nations community can visit in a culturally safe space and meet with people from government departments and other organisations.

These include Revenue NSW, Legal Aid, Services Australia, Transport for NSW, Aboriginal Legal Service, Service NSW, and Births, Deaths & Marriages.

You can get help with things like:

  • ID and proof of age cards
  • Travel concessions
  • Centrelink benefits and concessions
  • Obtaining your birth certificate
  • Legal help
